Fantastic Fundraising in the Junior School

'This term’s Harvest appeal was to raise money for the Sight Savers charity. The Junior School children collected a total of £344.60 which was matched by the government, resulting in a grand total of £689.20. The children also donated 59 pairs of spectacles to the charity.

Sight Savers is international organisation that works with partners in developing countries to treat and prevent avoidable blindness, and promote equality for people with visual impairments and other disabilities.

The Christmas appeal was for The Nasio Trust. The recent Christmas Raffle of a Snowman Scene raised a total of £92.10. We are very grateful to Mrs Daphne Smith, a friend of the school, who donated the prizes.

The children filled party bags with an inventive array of small gifts for the children in Kenya supported by the charity. Mrs Daphne Smith, a friend of our school, also knitted a wonderful collection of rainbow-coloured hats and sewed a variety of pencil and book bags for the children. All these gifts have been sent abroad as Christmas gifts for the Nasio Trust children. For some of the little children, this will be the very first present that they have ever received.

We have a long-standing connection with this charity and we know that our gifts are much valued. Thank you to Cokethorpe parents and children for their continued support.'
