'On 9 November, Drama Award holder Alex Cooper (Upper Sixth, Gascoigne) organised an afternoon recital of dramatic monologues in the Corinthian Room.
Alex performed three pieces - Alfieri from A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller, John Proctor from The Crucible by Arthur Miller and Shylock from William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
He was ably supported by Jamie Wehrle (Second Form, Queen Anne) as Romeo from Romeo and Juliet, Georgie Vallance (Lower Sixth, Vanbrugh) who performed as Blanche from A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, Sam Bird (Upper Sixth, Harcourt) as The Monster from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Mimi Dobson (Third Form, Gascoigne) as Helena from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The afternoon was a showcase that demonstrated leadership skills, independence and great talent. It was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those attended.'
