‘During the October Half Term, Coach Ian White and Mrs Jellyman took a group nine Fifth and Sixth Form pupils to the South Coast of Cornwall for the Annual Fowey River Hasler Race.
Cokethorpe’s team of Matthew Dray (Upper Sixth, Gascoigne) and Felix Macken (Lower Sixth, Vanbrugh), Division 4, came in 2nd place on the twelve mile race. James McDonald (Upper Sixth, Queen Anne), Louis Suen (Upper Sixth, Feilden) and (captain) Mathew Turner (Upper Sixth, Feilden), Division 6, all earned a second place prize for their efforts on the eight mile race.
On the four mile course Louis Rawlinson (Fifth Form, Harcourt) , Division 8, earned a second place prize while newcomers to the team; Hollie Jackson (Fifth Form, Swift), Hannah King (Fifth Form, Harcourt) and Tom Flory (Fifth Form, Harcourt), Division 9, earned 2nd and 5th place prizes respectively.
Team comradery, brilliant effort and results and agreeable Cornish weather made this trip a huge success!
Members will still continue to train over the winter, which leads up to the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster Race next Easter.’
