'From Sunday 5 to Sunday 12 November 2017, twelve pupils and their teacher, Jonas Dahlgren, from Campus Manilla School in Stockholm, Sweden, came to Cokethorpe School to participate in a Third Form Cultural Exchange programme.
Fully immersing themselves in School life, the Swedish pupils shadowed their host partners for the week, fully participating in academic lessons, with many pupils being introduced to Latin and Drama for the first time. Wanting to experience all that Cokethorpe offers, they committed to the AOB and Games programmes too, making good impressions on the climbing wall, rugby pitch and hockey field. A day trip caving in the Forest of Dean, was followed by a visit to Merton College, and a chance to walk around and admire the sights of the beautiful city of Oxford. Back in School, the pupils attended our Service of Remembrance on the Friday morning in the Upper Quad, finding the service very moving. To complete their week, they all returned on Friday evening to Cokethorpe to join in with our Firework and Bonfire Night, a great way to round off the first half of our Exchange programme. Next June, the six girls and six boys who hosted our Swedish guests will be making the return trip to Stockholm to spend a week with their exchange partners.
It is hoped that this Exchange will be a permanent fixture on the Cokethorpe calendar. Any current Second Form pupils who would like to be considered for the Exchange next year or who would like to know more should contact Mrs Scaysbrook.'
