For the Upper Sixth the last day is always particularly poignant. Watching the students file across the stage at the end of Prize Giving with their final carnation in their lapels is a bitter-sweet moment. The Summer Ball on Friday night was a chance for those students, their parents, the CPA and staff to celebrate their journey through the school and to say a final thank you to everyone in the Cokethorpe community who have guided, cajoled and encouraged their success. It was a very special night; from the splendid suits and dresses through to the leaver’s video and the fantastic band who gave them a superb send-off. They deserved nothing less and revelled in fine style.
It was wonderful to see students and parents dancing the night away after a superb dinner accompanied by a swing singing maestro. The Casino tables and photo booth were also a big hit, with many families and friendship groups taking the opportunity to grab a final memento, albeit dressed as cowboys or in a vast array of ridiculous sunglasses and wigs.
As always the tutors video went down a storm with the students surprised by the level of embarrassment teachers are willing to endure or enjoy. If you want a cheesy and sentimental moment you could check it out on the school Youtube channel!
A massive thank you must go to the CPA for having faith in the new format for the evening which made it such a special occasion and to the school catering team who wowed us all with the incredible food. I am sure that the Lower Sixth are already looking forward to next year when they will reach the end of their Cokethorpe journey and the fitting send-off that they will also deserve.
We are immensely proud of our leavers and I know that they will keep in contact with memories of their time here and tales of their future achievements.
