Junior School Going for Gold

The Junior School Sports Day and Mini Olympics saw the sunshine come out for the first time in weeks and the event was equally matched by the enthusiasm of the children, staff and parents. There were a multitude of events for the children from Reception Class to Year 2, commencing with the 100m sprint race on the main track.

From Year 3 to Year 6, the boys and girls represented their House in a variety of events inspired by the upcoming World Championships Athletic Competition. The events included javelin throw, standing jump, high jump, cricket ball throw and rounders ball throw with all the running events taking place on the track. The events of the day were drawn to a close by the relay race, where the Houses battled it out for double points. All of the children performed well and should be very pleased with their individual performances. The results are as follows:

Gywn - 162 points

Baker - 154 points

Symonds - 140 points

Lockwood - 104 points

There were some outstanding individual performances including Sebastian Wall (year 6, Baker), however the Burfitt Cup for the best performance was won by Alice Smith (Year 6, Baker).
