As part of their Environmental Studies Week, the children in Year 4 recently enjoyed a visit to Chedworth Roman Villa.
This trip supported both their History and Geography studies. They were looking particularly at why an ancient settlement developed in this particular location. The children were interested to discover what building materials were used, where the settlers’ fresh water supply came from and how the land was used in different ways.
When exploring the villa, the children viewed real Roman mosaic floors and hypocaust systems. To actually see these features in situ, where they were originally positioned nearly 2,000 years ago was a real privilege.
