On Wednesday 1 February, Year 1 went to the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock to learn about toys from the past.
The children took part in a hands-on workshop where they compared Victorian examples with similar toys which are available today, noticing some of the major differences between the materials used. They had great fun playing with a variety of replica indoor and outdoor toys including whip and top, gird and cleat, Jacob’s ladder, marbles and puppets.
Each child then made their own modern version of a peg doll, equipped with a Lightsaber, to take home! Finally we had a visit to the Gallery and noticed many precious toys from the past on display.
