A group of six Upper and Lower Sixth students attended a Maths in Action event held at Warwick University. We attended a series of lectures on prime numbers, code breaking, puzzles and the maths in pop music. We learnt how prime numbers are used to encrypt private banking information, and heard a version of the first ‘who’s lying?’ puzzle by C.S. Lewis. We also heard some of the latest hit songs in Flatland and Lineland, places which exist in two and one dimensions respectively.
