A Level English Othello Conference

On Wednesday 23 November, Upper Sixth English students attended a series of thought-provoking lectures concerning Shakespeare’s famous play Othello.

The topics covered a broad range of themes and approaches to the text, such as Racial Otherness, a discussion of what it means to be a tragic hero, and the role of female characters on the theme of trust and betrayal. Insightful talks enabled further exploration and consideration to be afforded to a complicated, yet fascinating, tale of the Moor of Venice.
