Sixth Form Drama students travelled to Warwick Arts Centre on Thursday 13 October to see Frantic Assembly’s outstanding performance of Things I Know to be True by Andrew Bovell.
The story of a seemingly ordinary family was told through a combination of comedy, tragedy, heartfelt naturalism and carefully choreographed movement. The play explores what happens when children fly the nest, the intense emotions of changing relationships, the flaws and power of family love and the brutal reality that for some, dreams will always only be dreams. To say it was a roller-coaster in terms of emotional investment from the performers and the audience would be an understatement. However, despite the tears there was plenty of laughter which sparked some interesting personal reflections as well as philosophical discussions on the journey home.
