High-Achieving OCs Return to Cokethorpe

‘The Destination Dinner on Tuesday 21 June formed the culmination to the Careers and Higher Education Programme for our Lower Sixth students.

We were very fortunate in being able to welcome back former Cokethorpe pupils Jess O’Shea (OC 2008, Vanbrugh), Lena Beardsell (OC 2007, Feilden), Torin Pocock (OC 2010, Gascoigne) and Gabriel Gavin (OC 2012, Queen Anne) as our guest speakers. They were able to share invaluable up to date knowledge with our students about both university and the world of work.

The Lower Sixth had the opportunity to ask questions about life as an Army Officer, a solicitor, an actor and a political campaigner, along with gaining tips on the UCAS process. All of our speakers emphasised the continuing importance of gaining work experience, either voluntary or paid, in addition to making the most of the broad activities offered as part of our extra-curricular programmes. This was certainly an informative evening enjoyed by all, which stimulated much thought among the attending students.’
