On Wednesday 27 April, the Cokethorpe community gathered together for the annual Choral Society Concert.
The Society is formed of parents, staff and friends and they were joined on stage by the Junior School Choir and the whole of the First Form to perform a toe-tapping selection of Bob Chilcott’s Jazz Folk Songs. From the delicate Hush Little Baby and Sakura to the lively En la Macarenita and Waltzing Matilda, the complex harmonies and challenging tempos made for a very enjoyable performance.
The evening opened with a stunning solo from Lukas Russell (Fourth Form, Gascoigne), who recently won the inaugural Cokethorpe Young Musician of the Year competition.
The Choral Society is always keen to welcome new members and all are welcome to join, from experienced vocalists to complete beginners. Rehearsals will commence in January in preparation for next year’s concert and further information will be provided towards the end of this year.
