Year 3 children were joined by Jules on Monday 25 January, who is a freelance zoologist, author, writer and presenter.
He has featured on numerous television programs, writes regularly for BBC Wildlife Magazine and has published two Bloomsbury non-fiction books, both about evolution and life-history. Year 3 have been learning about fossils in their Science lessons and how they are formed. A visit from Jules enhanced their learning with the topic Discover Fossils. The children searched for their own fossilised insects in amber and searched through piles of ancient fossilised bones for signs of extinct dinosaurs, ‘super-predator’ crocodiles and ancient molluscs.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and were buzzing with excitement. They even got to look for micro fossils in a pile of rice!
