On Monday 14 December, Junior School children filed out through the front of the Mansion and walked down to the Chapel for a lovely Christingle service.
Despite the inclement weather, staff and pupils were in good spirits and their beautiful singing was accompanied by a choir. Several teachers gave a reading before the Headmaster engaged staff and children in a lesson on symbolism. He explained the importance of each element of the Christingle candles. Staff were encouraged to suggest other symbols which the children might have encountered and the meanings behind these were explained. The service concluded with two children from each class carrying the beautifully-handmade Christingles, while Silent Night was sung.
