Year 3 were set the task this morning of discovering ‘what type of soil is the most permeable?’
Before they could conduct the investigation, in their groups they had to decide on a few factors such as how much soil and water would they use, how they would make it a fair test and how will they decide which soil is the fastest.
All of the groups decided that they would pour the same amount of water in to three different equally measured out soils so that it would make it a fair test. During the experiment they allowed a set amount of time for the water to pass through the soil and at the end of that time they measured how much water had passed through.
Clay, loam and sand were used as the three variable soils, which one do you think was the most permeable!?
