On Saturday 3 October Cokethorpe School hosted a reunion event, led by Martin Lockwood (OC 1959) for twenty Old Cokethorpeans who left Cokethorpe between 1955 and 1964. Talk and laughter filled the air in the Mansion Reception Hall as OCs reunited.
Accompanied by wives and partners as well as Rev Francis Brown’s daughters, Mary and Joan, the OCs enjoyed a visit to the Chapel, with many memories and stories shared on the walk down the gravel path.
After returning to the Mansion everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet and a glass of wine or two whilst viewing a display of period photos of pupils in their dormitories, playing sport, enjoying down time on their bikes and acting in plays. Click here to view the photos on display.
The Headmaster and Martin Lockwood then gave very amusing and captivating speeches which left the room buzzing with conversation.
The event came to a close after a walk around old bedrooms, classrooms and the grounds.
Martin Lockwood said ‘It was a really great day of reunion and reminiscing by the very old boys from the earliest years and it was delightful to be joined by the founding headmaster Rev Francis Brown’s two daughters.’
