As has become customary at Cokethorpe, the final event of the Sixth Form year took place in the evening following Prize Giving - the annual black tie Summer Ball.
130 students were joined by 50 members of staff for a fantastic three course dinner followed by a live band and a DJ. At 10.45pm the guests assembled on the Mansion House Lawn outside of the marquee for a spectacular fireworks display before hot-footing it to the Fish and Chip van that arrived on cue. The evening was a great success and proved to be a particularly emotional time for our Upper Sixth leavers.
'Getting ready for the ball with all my closest friends was overwhelming, new and old we all were anticipating our last few hours together as a year. Walking into School as a group for the last time was sad however we were welcomed on the beautiful grounds by a group Old Cokethorpeans dressed in wonderful 60s and 70s outfits.
They served us a drink giving us time to reminisce our Cokethorpe years together. We were given a colourful three course meal which was concluded with some tear jerking speeches and a dance. The night ended under fireworks bringing the teachers and students together one last time. It was a night thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and I know the current Lower Sixth have a lot to look forward to.'
