Lower Sixth Drama students presented their monologues and ensemble piece to two visiting examiners on Thursday 7 May.
James Bennett (Lower Sixth, Swift) played Roger from A Room to Let by Paul Tucker, Amelia Evans (Lower Sixth, Vanbrugh) presented a piece from Jim Cartwright’s Road and Isadora Klene (Lower Sixth, Feilden) portrayed Medea by Euripides in a new version by Mike Bartlett.
The audience then moved from the Drama Studio to The Shed where the candidates gave a spectacular ensemble performance in a new interpretation of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. Set in a run-down, high security hospital, Gogo (Isadora Klene) and Vladimira (Amelia Evans) are convinced that Godot will come to rescue them. Pozzo (James Bennett), who is also an inmate, wanders into their cell one evening with his imaginary slave Lucky which, unbeknownst to them, seals their fate forever.
