The performers of the Gig Night held on Monday 23 March did themselves proud with some outstanding performances ranging from renditions of songs from Grease to music sung by the late great jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.
There was a fantastic rendition of Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson performed by Grace Ettinger (First Form, Harcourt) and Christian Ettinger (Lower Sixth, Harcourt) and Somebody I Used To Know by Goyte performed by Annie Bell (Third Form, Gascoigne), Charlie Clarke (Second Form, Harcourt), Hayden Camidge (Second Form, Vanbrugh), Grace Ettinger and Ed Binnie (Third Form, Harcourt). There were also some very good duets performed by Henry Plumridge (Upper Sixth, Gascoigne) and Ollie Charles (Second Form, Gascoigne), Sofia Ward-Naranjo (Fourth Form, Queen Anne) and Will Ward-Naranjo (Upper Sixth, Queen Anne).
There was also an original song composed by Danny Pye (Upper Sixth, Vanbrugh) and Aidan King (Upper Sixth, Gascoigne) that had a smooth electronic edge to it. The Third Form band consisting of Ed Binnie, Harry Brown (Third Form, Vanbrugh), Will Riman (Third Form, Feilden), Fredi Traish (Third Form, Swift), Charlie Clarke and Joe McBride (Third Form, Gascoigne) gave a fantastic performance of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers Dani California. The First Form band; George Langford (First Form, Vanbrugh), Tom Whittenbury (First Form, Vanbrugh), Tom Alford (Second Form, Swift) along with Mr Gower and Mr Mullin, performed the classic song Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash.
The last Gig Night of the academic year will take place in the Summer Term on Wednesday 24 June.
