A Society Social took place in the Rugby Room at the prestigious East India Club on Thursday 12 March and was a resounding success with over twenty Old Cokethorpeans in attendance.
The evening offered a fantastic opportunity for networking between our older members and our more recent leavers. However, it was not all business as the OCs spent plenty of time socialising and reminiscing about their time at Cokethorpe. Our 1950s and 1960s leavers had a very different experience to our recent leavers but memories served everyone well with many stories being shared.
We were very fortunate to hold such an event at the East India Club, with which we have honorary membership upon receiving HMC status in 2008. The elegant clubhouse in St James’s Square is situated in the heart of London, just a few hundred yards from Piccadilly Circus.
It was wonderful to see the School crest on a plaque above the main staircase alongside many other prestigious institutions and much amusement was had trying to group all the guests around the plaque for a photograph.
Due to the success of this event there will most certainly be another Social in London in the near future so watch this space!
