Meltdown in Year 2

Year 2 children brought the snowy weather into the classroom this morning, experimenting with ice.

They were given different materials to see how quickly it melts the ice. These materials consisted of sand, bubble wrap, salt and hot water. The children who were given sand as their material soon began to realise that it was not helping to melt their ice very quickly. However the children that had hot water on their ice said it disappeared straight away.

In their next Science lesson, instead of looking at materials that help melt the ice, they will be experimenting with materials that help to stop the ice from melting.
