'Considering that both the region itself, and the famous film Volver are part of our A Level course, a trip to Castilla la Mancha, where the film is based and filmed was an excellent idea. From the beautiful walled medieval town of Toledo, to the small, rural town of Granátula de Calatrava where the opening scene of the work was filmed, we not only enjoyed the region for its fascinating culture but also learned much about it as well.
By both visiting museums and film locations, and also speaking to the local people about subjects ranging from what they think of the film to the state of the economy in the region, we all gained a huge amount of knowledge about the facts and the attitudes surrounding different topics in Castilla la Mancha. I think it is safe to say we will all feel much less intimidated when we are eventually faced with writing an essay about these subjects on both the film and the region in our A Level exams.'
