With a great showing from all houses, the 2014 annual Inter-House music competition took place on Friday 10 October and displayed the diverse musical talents of Cokethorpe pupils. The theme this year for the house songs was Simon and Garfunkel, and the performances did not disappoint.
The competition was kindly adjudicated by Richard Dunster-Sigtermans: organist, accompanist, conductor and ex director of music. He was very impressed with the high standards of all the ensembles and soloists.
The prize for best soloist went to Tom Christensen (Lower Sixth, Swift) for his beautiful performance of Chopin’s Raindrop Prelude, with trumpeter Ollie Parker (Upper Sixth, Feilden) finishing a close second.
Best ensemble and house song went to Queen Anne for their renditions of All About The Bass and Bridge Over Troubled Water meaning that they took first prize overall and the House Music Cup.
It was an enjoyable afternoon for all and great to see so much musical talent on stage.
