On Monday 6 October, Thoralf the Viking came to talk to the Year 3 children about the Viking way of life.
They have been studying this topic in their History lessons this term. The children immediately became engrossed in his presence as he proceeded to tell them exciting stories and adventures about these historic Nordic invaders.
The children were shown a wide range of authentic objects such as armour, weapons, musical instruments, real furs and a quern with which to grind corn. The experience really enhanced each child’s learning about this period in time. During the last part of his visit with us, he demonstrated the use of the sword and fired arrows across the Corinthian Room….safely of course! Thank goodness he was a friendly Viking!
