On Thursday 13 February the Junior School took part in their Friendship Sponsored Walk in aid of the Nasio Trust. Despite the dreadful weather we have had recently, the sun came out for the duration of the walk.
Led by the Cross Country Club runners, all pupils from reception up to Year 6 embraced the wet and cold by wearing colourful scarfs, hats and wellington boots.
The walk started outside the Mansion House and followed a circuit of three kilometres around the school grounds, with each child collecting a sticker at the half-kilometre checkpoints. The pupils collected 1510 stickers between them and covered over 700km during the hour and fifteen minutes spent walking.
The benefitting charity, The Nasio Trust, runs day-care centres in western Kenya providing orphaned children with a daily meal, education, medical care and support.
Thank you to all sponsors for supporting this very worthwhile cause. Thanks also to the walkers and everyone who helped with the checkpoints for their enthusiasm. We hope all those that took part enjoyed the fresh air and the exercise!
