The lawn in front of the Mansion House was transformed in to an Athletics arena for Junior School Sports Day on Thursday 26 June.
A multitude of events were in store for the Reception Class to Year Two pupils, who performed exceptionally in events such as an obstacle course, 100 metre sprint race and ball throwing activities, winning stickers for taking part in every event.
The Year three to six boys and girls represented their house in a variety of events inspired by the up and coming Commonwealth Games, these events included; on the track 100 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre races. Throughout the afternoon field events were also taking place where pupils had the opportunity to take part in the Javelin throw, Standing jump, High jump, Cricket ball throw and Rounder’s ball throw.
All pupils performed well and should be very pleased with their individual performances. The results are as follows:
Lockwood 124 points
Baker 105 points
Gywn 76 points
There were some outstanding individual performances however the Burfitt Award for the best performance was won by Isabelle Buckingham (Year 6). However, throughout the afternoon many records were broken once, twice even three times in some instances but the following records stand to date.
