The Junior School Sports Day and Mini Olympics saw the sunshine come out for the first time in weeks, which buoyed the enthusiasm of the children, staff and parents. A multitude of events took place for the Reception to Year 2 children, starting with the 100m sprint race on the main track. Of course, every child who participated in an event was awarded a sticker for effort.
Children from Years 3 to 6 represented their Houses in a variety of events inspired by this summer's Olympic Games in London; these included javelin throw, standing jump, high jump, cricket ball throw and rounders ball throw, with all the running events taking place on the track.
All the children performed well and should be very pleased with their efforts. The results are as follows:
Lockwood: 207 points
Gywn: 170 points
Baker: 161 points
Symonds: 137 points
There were some outstanding individual performances this year, particularly from Sophie Wheeler (Year 6, Lockwood) and Alexander Wilde (Year 6, Lockwood) who both won the Burfitt Award for the Best Performance.
