Pastoral Care

We take seriously the business of looking after your children and value our reputation for outstanding pastoral care. The House system, personal tutoring, year-group specific social and health programmes, and a joint Anglican and Roman Catholic foundation create a tried and tested support structure. All focus on development of the whole person, encourage loyalty and participation, and instil a sense of personal responsibility.

Your children will join one of six houses, where the overall care of members is overseen by a housemistress or housemaster and the day-to-day care is the responsibility of year group tutors. Your children will form a close bond with their tutors, who will monitor and enhance their progress and achievement, both academically and socially.

In addition to setting academic targets and providing regular reports, tutors will ensure involvement in the widest possible sense. Inter-house competitions, social activities, pupil councils, or the prefect and buddy systems are just some of the ways in which your sons or daughters will interact with other age groups. They will develop teamwork and leadership skills, using their abilities and talents for the benefit of both the House and the School. There will be every opportunity for parents to see their children victorious, whether scoring a try in the inter-house rugby tournament, edging ahead in a general knowledge quiz or raising the roof in the House group singing competition.

Spiritual development will also be nurtured through regular inter-denominational chapel services, assemblies and charitable activities, and through philosophical and ethical discussions as part of Personal, Social and Health Education.
