Cokethorpe School

The Music Department

The ability to express oneself in an engaging, entertaining and positive fashion is central to life at Cokethorpe. Pupils love to demonstrate their creative talents.

Whether it’s with voice or instrument, music plays a big part in the life of the School. Reaching the ranks of the School Orchestra is a sure sign of talent, concentration and dedication. Naturally, to make the most of this talent, plenty of practice is encouraged.

Pupils have the opportunity to join the First Orchestra, String Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Lower and Upper First Choir, Soul Singers, Madrigalists or Jazz Band. There are also a number of pupils that are part of their own bands outside of School. Milestones in self-confidence are often attained through a wider acknowledgement of personal effort in School concerts and lunchtime recitals.
