Junior School 'Footsteps' Sponsored Walk

Junior School 'Footsteps' Sponsored Walk photo

10 March 2010

The Junior School children and staff all very much enjoyed their sponsored walk around the School's beautiful parkland on the cold, sunny afternoon of Tuesday 9 March. The children did extremely well, collecting a sticker at each half kilometre checkpoint. One child managed twelve and a half kilometres in the hour and our youngest children managed three and a half kilometres each. When we added up the total distance covered by staff and pupils we had achieved an amazing 740 kilometres (460 miles). This is further than from Cokethorpe to Edinburgh, or Cokethorpe to Paris!

This year the chosen charities were The Footsteps Foundation and Thomley Activity Centre. The Footsteps Foundation helps children and young adults with neuro-motor disorders to develop and maximise their physical abilities and provides funding for children to benefit from a programme of intensive physiotherapy at The Footsteps Centre.Thomley Activity Centre provides a unique recreational facility for disabled children, their families, friends and schools. Both of these charities are based in Oxfordshire and the Junior School has already welcomed representatives to speak at their weekly assemblies.

The children are now collecting in their sponsorship money and we look forward to hearing the final total raised in due course.
