Cokethorpe School held a magnificent concert in St Mary’s Parish Church, Witney on Tuesday 2 March. The evening began with the First Orchestra performing Bizet's Farandole and also his famous Habanera aria from the opera Carmen, with a Tenor Horn solo by James Ellacott in Year 10. Paul Berry, Ross McKee and Freddie Miles (Year 12) then took the lead for a movement each of Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4. The newly-formed Cokethorpe Choral Society, consisting of pupils, parents and staff, completed the evening with a powerful rendition on Vivaldi's Gloria, which included solos from Melanie Severn (Year 8) and Katherine Woolley (Year 9). This was the first time that Cokethorpe School had staged a choral concert of this size and was delighted to see a full audience lining the church pews.
