Junior School Drama

Drama in the Curriculum

Drama features significantly in the Junior School. All year groups have a Drama lesson each week with the Junior School Drama teacher.  Lessons may involve learning and performing plays in small groups, or working towards the year group plays, which are performed at Christmas and at Prize Giving in the Summer Term. The Corinthian Room makes the perfect drama space for the pupils.

One of the lessons also involves taking a trip to the School's Costume Store.  There are over 1,000 items of costume, and all children get the opportunity to be fitted with a costume of their choice.

There is a Shakespeare Appreciation Week during the Michaelmas Term.  All the children in Years 2 to 6 enjoy workshops on a chosen Shakespeare play, appropriate for their year group, and also watch a short performance of a Shakespeare play from the Senior School GCSE Theatre Studies pupils.

Drama Activities

Additional drama activities are offered as part of the Junior School Activities Scheme. This is available for all years and the children enjoy a variety of plays and tasks set out for them.

Both the Junior School and Pre-Prep perform a Christmas play at the end of the Michaelmas Term, in which all children have parts and lines to say.
