Cokethorpe School

Inspection Report

The Headmaster, Governors and staff of Cokethorpe School were delighted to accept the report from the Independent Schools inspection team, who visited in October 2009 for the School’s six yearly inspection.

The School met all its statutory 120 regulatory requirements and the overall conclusions state that 'Cokethorpe School meets its aims and aspirations to a high degree'. Specific highlights from the report also include:

  • The whole experience is pervaded by an outstanding sense of community, to which teachers, pupils and all others who work at the school contribute in equal measure
  • The broad range of academic experience is complemented by a wide range of sporting and other activities which make an important contribution to pupils' personal development
  • The school's success is the consequence of skilled and dedicated teaching, a highly effective and committed governing body, and inspirational leadership by the head, supported by his senior colleagues

The inspectors added that 'the school has made considerable progress since the last inspection and where standards were already high they have been maintained. The recommendations made at that time have been addressed'.

The inspectors also included that 'the performance of the school is such that its few weaknesses are far outweighed by its strengths'.
