From the Headmaster

Cokethorpe’s beautiful grounds are a breathtaking surprise as you drive between Witney and Abingdon, with the mixture of old and new buildings nestling contentedly amongst the vast acres of playing fields. This backdrop will have a huge impact on your children. Both consciously and sub-consciously the abundance of space and inspirational surroundings cannot fail to influence those who work and study here, making them feel safe and secure, and lifting the spirits.
The parkland setting immediately emphasises that this is a school that focuses on the broader approach, where the classroom and the environment complement each other. It will provide your sons and daughters with numerous opportunities for study, relaxation, the development of skills and the building of relationships with peers and tutors alike, and they will discover a distinct sense of belonging and wellbeing.
Whether they are part of the Junior School, Senior School or Sixth Form, we will encourage your children to champion their strengths and challenge their weaknesses in a supportive and happy environment. Your children will become rounded individuals with lifelong friendships, good career choices, tolerance and consideration for others and the confidence to flourish in our global society.
As a parent your overriding wish for your children will be that they should be happy and fulfilled, both during their time at school and after they leave. If they are, then they will be more likely to achieve, and Cokethorpe pupils achieve in as wide and varied a way as you can possibly imagine. You want to give them the best opportunities, and the investment you will make in their education will be an emotional commitment, by you as well as them, that is quite separate from any consideration of cost or convenience.
We firmly believe that a Cokethorpe education will not only prepare and guide your children for the next stage in their lives, but will stay with them forever.
You will see from this website that Cokethorpe is a vibrant, purposeful and happy school. We welcome boys and girls across the ability range, from a diversity of social, religious and geographical backgrounds and with many different talents. Each girl or boy entrusted to our care will receive an enriching experience with countless opportunities across the broadest possible range and will learn to discover strengths, minimise weaknesses, develop aspirations and achieve ambitions.
We are proud of our school, and firmly believe that the principles, ethos and vision that guide us will provide the best possible education for your children. I would be delighted to welcome you and your children to Cokethorpe in the near future so you can see all this for yourselves.
