About Cokethorpe

We are an Independent Day School, for boys and girls aged four to eighteen, set in 150 acres of beautiful Oxfordshire parkland two miles south of Witney and ten miles to the west of Oxford.

We are unique in many ways. Not only is our setting unsurpassed but we are also one of the only co-educational day schools in Oxfordshire with both Junior and Senior Schools and Sixth Form on the same site. The array of age groups, genders and brothers and sisters, creates an atmosphere built on mutual trust and respect and a sense of identity borne out of the opportunity for continuity and consistency. The diversity of backgrounds adds variety, normality and reality.

Academic excellence is an essential criterion of our selection process but pupils with a passion and talent for creative arts, sporting activities and endeavours beyond the classroom reflect what is at the heart of Cokethorpe and are therefore given due consideration.

Our ethos is to deliver a liberal education in a vibrant, kind and academically challenging environment that will extend the potential of every pupil. We aim to promote the individual and challenge every pupil to achieve their best academically. We give our pupils the opportunity, skills and guidance to make good choices and aim for every pupil to leave Cokethorpe with strong self-esteem, high personal expectation, and with tolerance and respect for others based on our Christian values.

We are a happy, strong and vibrant school in which individuals are generous of spirit, inspire friendship and are supportive of each other.

We have a rich soul, a distinctive personality and an identity that encompasses our traditions and customs, strong leadership and the purposeful, caring and unpretentious qualities of our staff and pupils.

Pupils are expected to work diligently and to obtain the best possible academic results.
