Beyond the Classroom

The unique parkland setting provides many wonderful opportunities for learning outside the classroom and we also look further afield too.

Forest School is an inspirational programme that offers children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.

The outdoor area provides young children with one of the best possible environments in which to learn. Any adult who has watched children playing in a well-planned and well-resourced woodland area with involved adults, will have observed the joy and excitement they experience as they learn new skills and make fresh discoveries. We have our own outdoor learning area in the School grounds called the Woods.

Older children have the opportunity to develop their outdoor learning experience with an overnight Bushcraft Camp at nearby Cornbury Park and this has proved to be a very popular addition to our programme.

Other residential opportunities include the Year 5 Geography Field Trip to Dorset and the Year 6 Summer Expedition. This is a highlight for the children as they near the end of their time in Junior School and it enables them to test their skills in a more demanding but hugely enjoyable environment.

There is an excellent range of extra-curricular activities. ISI Inspection Report
