The Junior School has many facilities within the Mansion and in the plentiful surrounding grounds.
Additionally, the children benefit enormously from having access to the Senior School facilities, especially the all-weather pitches and other sports facilities, Performing Arts, Science Laboratories, computer resources and the Design and Technology workshops.
As well as the use of the facilities, specialist academic and sporting staff from the Senior School contribute to the Junior School curriculum, which enhances the children’s overall experience.
The Mansion House provides a unique setting for the Junior School and the classrooms reflect this. Vibrant and colourful displays are a feature around the School and help to provide a wonderful environment to inspire and support the children’s learning.
The children all have one music lesson each week in the dedicated Music Room. In addition, it is used for the wide variety of music clubs, the orchestra, choir rehearsals, and instrumental ensemble playing.
The beautiful Corinthian Room is used for a wide range of activities including music recitals, assemblies, visiting speakers, Drama lessons and performances to parents.
The Art Room is a riot of colour and creativity and children from Year 2 to Year 6 have their lessons here with specialist teachers.
The Library is at the heart of the Junior School. The children are able to select from a range of non-fiction as well as fiction books which are displayed by genre for ease of choice. We use the Junior Librarian system so the children are able to scan their books and keep an ongoing record of their reading from year to year. Books are updated regularly and new titles added to the collection. The very popular Book Club meets each week to introduce new books, write reviews, enter competitions and share their love of reading.
The Adventure Play Area offers a range of free-standing adventure equipment as well as an outdoor classroom and big toys.
The Woods is a wonderful area within the parkland where the children can learn all about nature, the changing seasons, conservation and year round outdoor learning experiences.
The Kitchen Garden is visited throughout the year and gives the children an opportunity to grow and harvest their own range of fruit and vegetables.
The dining room is an impressive area that enhances the children’s dining experience. Lunch may be accompanied by music recitals from the balcony! The Pre-Prep children are served their meals at the table as ‘family service’ and older children are able to select their lunch from the servery. The tables are laid with cutlery, glasses and napkins and the children are able to sit with their friends each day.
The Sports Hall is a valuable facility along with the astroturf pitches and tennis courts that we share with the Senior School.
