Sport is seen as an important part of Sixth Form life, enhancing the curriculum beyond just exercise.

Whether students are a National competitor or a reluctant gym goer, we provide an appropriate level of activity for all to engage with. For the most able, Senior teams play a host of fixtures throughout the year, combined with specialist coaching and training.

The main sports for each term are:

Michaelmas Term

  • Girls Hockey
  • Rugby

Lent Term

  • Netball
  • Football
  • Boys Hockey

Summer Term

  • Cricket
  • Tennis

Running alongside these is the opportunity to train for the Devizes to Westminster Kayaking race, a six month training schedule on the river that culminates with the gruelling endurance event over Easter. Similarly students can opt for Clay Pigeon Shooting where coaching and practice leads to the National Finals. Both are major successes of the Cokethorpe Sport programme.

In addition, for those wanting to experience something different, or just looking to train, there are a number of different options students can opt for at different times of the year. These include a fully equipped gym and weights room, aerobics, squash, dance, climbing, rounders, volleyball, athletics, badminton and golf.
