Within the Sixth Form all students are able to access the specialised provision offered by the Learning Support Department, regardless of their educational profile.
Drop-in sessions cover topics such as revision techniques, how to structure essays, troubleshooting literacy problems and planning revision timetables. Students can attend in groups or on a one-to-one basis.
Some students opt to receive individual specialised Learning Support tuition, in many cases (but not all) if they have a profile of a Specific Educational Need. In our experience, this additional support is often the key to examination success, as students are supported in developing their own independent strategies and methods for effective learning. It is gratifying to witness these individuals going to study at undergraduate level, fully equipped with the skills that they need to succeed, such as effective note-taking, essay planning and reviewing and editing skills.
