Hockey

Hockey is an exciting sport at Cokethorpe with an emphasis on learning in a fun and dynamic environment.

We are lucky to have two excellent astroturf pitches which provide us with some of the very best facilities in Oxfordshire. This allows us to host Junior hockey festivals, County tournaments and National club festivals here in the School grounds. We also boast a very strong coaching team, with many of our coaches having competed or are currently competing or coaching at a high level in hockey.

Hockey at Cokethorpe is thriving and we currently run sixteen teams from the U9's through to the U18's. We have a full fixture programme with the Seniors playing fixtures against other schools on Wednesdays and the Juniors playing on Thursdays. Over the past few years we have had a lot of success, winning a number of County titles with both the Senior and Junior teams moving through to Regional rounds of National competitions. Aside from external competitions we also have a strong Inter-House Hockey tradition, which is enjoyed by all. Furthermore, we offer indoor hockey clubs for all and are looking to develop this side of the sport over the next few years. Many of our students play representative as well as club hockey and we have strong links with local clubs.

As a small school we work hard to both promote excellence whilst providing a positive opportunity for all and this is something that we are very proud of. There is a real buzz about Cokethorpe hockey and we are excited about the future.
