School Day

The Senior School day starts with registration at 8.40am and ends at the end of the final timetable period at 5.00pm.

Every effort is made to encompass all school activity within the school day so that late pickups are minimised for those pupils who travel by school bus.

The School follows a ten day timetable that is split into Week 1 and Week 2.

The timetable is:

Period Time

Period 2 10.00am - 11.00am

Period 3 11.20am - 12.20pm

The Friday lunch break is extended (12.20pm – 2.10pm) to allow for lunchtime AOB activities.

Each Friday concludes with the Headmaster’s Assembly (4.30pm – 5.00pm).

Sport plays an important part of the school timetable with two afternoons a week dedicated to sport. The First and Second Form are timetabled for sport on Tuesdays (2.45pm) and Thursdays (1.45pm) and the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Form on Mondays (2.45pm) and Wednesdays (1.45pm).

The lunch break is 1 hour 20 minutes in length. This is because at Cokethorpe we believe that it is very important to allow sufficient time in the middle of the day for pupils to eat, to unwind and to participate in the large number of lunch-time clubs and activities. Lunch is compulsory because we believe it is important to foster the ethos of community eating.

We offer our pupils a varied, healthy and tasty diet. We also attempt to cater for all tastes and preferences and have vegetarian options available daily. If your child has any allergies or special dietary requirements please let the School know and these can be catered for.

Our extended day allows us to offer an exceptionally wide range of extra-curricular activities.
