We encourage curiosity and independent thinking; creating an atmosphere where questioning is adventurous.
We urge children to balance imagination and creativity with reflection regarding their own learning; building on their previous performances. Expectations for work and behaviour are high; we challenge children to exceed their suggested potential in class. Learning must be fun too, and our talented and creative teaching staff provide a wealth of opportunities, both within the classroom and in the wider environment.
We offer a range of curricular and extra-curricular activities that enrich the curriculum for our most able students. Provision is focussed on raising aspirations beyond compulsory education. These include Spanish lessons for our gifted linguists, creative English writing sessions and entry into national writing competitions, along with additional Mathematics challenges.
We also seek to help all pupils who might need additional help to achieve their individual potential. There are Teaching Assistants in class to assist with pupils’ learning and where appropriate individual Mathematics and English lessons are taken by our qualified Learning Support teachers.
